Hi

I have currently got a baby bio orb with a couple of danio in which was a present.

I have been given a bio orb 60 litre and wondered how many fish can I keep in there? I have also wondered if it would be suitable for a pair of sea horses?

many thanks

hi :)

you will be very limited when it comes to stocking a biorb, but it can be done with paitence and sense :) 1 fish every 28 days and not sooner .. :/ ( have a look online for the guide for them as Reef One do quite a good one.

as for the sea horses.. have you ever kept marine? i know guys that have for 40+ yrs and they are way to hard to keep :( given the fact that they are so beautiful and delicate i certainly wouldnt recommend them for beginners to practice on.. but maybe you have :)

Hi Huggies

I've got a 60 ltr Biorb which I had loads of water condition problems with in it's original form but I've now converted it by getting rid of the ceramic media that came with it which to be honest just collected food detritus which was difficult to clean. I've now got it running with an EHIEM aquaball 60 internal filter with siporax filter media which is working really well and aerates the water as well. I've currently got a mix of different Tetra in it plus one male Guppy and a Chinese Golden algae eater, (left over from a previous setup), totalling 16 fish in all. It's planted well and has some rock & bogwood to provide cover with a silver sand substrate. It's working really well, all the fish are in good health and all seem to get on with each other although the Guppy seems to pick on the Serpae Tetra a bit & I'm keeping a close eye on the algae eater.
Regarding your ? about the seahorses, the only ones I know of are saltwater,(marine), animals and although technically I suppose you could convert a Biorb to a Marine environment I don't think I'd try it, I think you'd need to be a really experienced marine aquarist to make it work safely and also marine fish aren't cheap so any mistakes could be very costly as well as not good for the fish welfare.
Hope this helps.
