Well not really actually

I have the tank you can see in my sig below, and it is running well, but a workmate is selling a large tank 60x24x18 inches (CHEAP!!) which is about 460 litres.

I think I'd like to try something a little different from what I've got, but that uses the size of this tank. My water ph seems to end up between 6.6 and 7 from the experience I have with the supply water so far.

So, any suggestions???? :S :S

Would you like large agressive fish like cichlids? like the ones in my signatue?
Hmmmm... I would, but I'm worred about them fighting. I'd hate to see a big tank sitting there with two fish in it because they want to eat anything else that goes in :(

Any suggestions about the makeup of a cyclid tank that ight have everyone living in peace??

cichlids, catfish, larger gourami...all good for a tank that size :)

Just don't go for african cichlids ;) American is the way to go

You could opt for a biotope aquarium and just have fish and plants etc from one part of the world.....or

You could have a nice community of a certain species of fish. But something different like large Barbs, Tinfoils and that or Rainbowfish.
How about a theme. Like a freshwater shipwreck or something ;)

No no no, African cichlids all the way - Mbuna at that.

They are aggressive, but, as far as I know (from advice I've read online - never actually kept them myself...!), if you have plenty of them and plenty of caves then (a) they have places to get away and (b ) there won't be one fish that gets picked on, so the aggression is shared between all of the fish.

I'd definitely get mbuna in your position, but of course, the decision... (dramatic pause)... is yours.

Go exotic.

Get some freshwater rays and a a few dragon puffers, some kuhli loaches, and orange pikes. make PLENTY of hiding spaces!

I love the ideas of freshwater rays, and how about some catfish aswell? Those guys would love the sand! And you could have a couple of large cichlids or maybe a large group of rainbow fish to fill the top of the tank?

Im not sure if this would all be compatible, but i've deffinatly seen catfish and rays together and I would assume most fish would get along with them fine as long as you didnt over load the bottom of the tank.
