I’m planning my next tank & would like your advice. I’ve been looking around for a tank about 72” 24” 24” on E-bay + other such sites & it would appear to me it’s cheaper to get one built so the first question is can any one recommend good reliable company that will build & deliver a tank?
Would an external heater be better than an internal?
What would be the best filter to use?
Are there any lighting units that have a timer built in?

Im in the middle of building my own tank and building up another tank that I purchased and i live in the netherlands so i can't help you with companies but if your looking at a lighting you need to do some research as i think that 72 x 24 x 24 is 150x50x50 cm so a lighting hood to fit that with 2x tl lamps and 2 x hqi lamps will cost around €1200. so it is better that you build it yourself.

If you read this site you will see that you can also build your own tank by buying your glass. if you need help just ask.

Look no further than our very own Windsor Aquatics http/www.windsor-aquatics.co.uk/ Keith the owner is a member here and having bought a tank from him earlier in the year i can vouch that their prices and build quality is second to none, they even deliver the tank to you at a time that suits you for a very reasonable price. Mine was delivered at 5.30 am before i left for work at 6 and delivery was just £50 for a 6x2x2 tank, another company i spoke with wanted £75 and they were less than 30 miles away.

i built a hood for my 60x18x18 tank for less than £20.00 and then the lighting was £15 for a starter and £15 for a light tube so £50 all in.

Cheers all thanks for your help, I’ve considered the whole D.I.Y seems way too much work. I had a quick look at that web site cheers CFC I’ll definitely be putting a enquiry in once I know what it is I want.
