can i put a male betta in a large tank 20-30g all the lfs say no they have to be in very small tanks
and if i can put one in my tank will the get along with my current stock?

You need to change your stocking a bit. I don't know why you have Goldfish (coldwater) with tropical fish
The Pleco is almost certainly a common pleco, which grows too big for your tank. So it might have to get rehomed.
The goby needs brackish water.
The Strawberry tetra needs to be in groups and it is a dyed fish, so it would be best to return them and get some Cardinal Tetra
And no a betta wont get along with your current fish

Compatible Tank Mates : Not many because of their temperament. Tropical fish with regular size fins may do well, but avoid tropical fish with larger fins like guppies or angelfish.

As long as they are a short fined variaty. Any long fined fish could be mistaken for another betta & attacked.

Cory's are fine with Betta's. We have 4 panda cory's in with our betta.
