Tank size: 5 1/2 gallon
pH: 7.9
ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 0
kH and gH: unknown, but water is fairly hard
tank temp: 26 C
My new Betta has a white/yellow patch around mouth, chin and belly. No other obvious symptoms, like lethargy or shyness. I'm worried it might be columnaris or some other infection. These white patches have always been present from day 1, so perhaps it is just the natural colouring. But then perhaps I bought an ill fish without knowing it, so I'd rather be sure.
I do 1/3 water changes once a week and add no extra chemicals beyond plant fertiliser (3 ml dose, once a week during water changes) and water conditioner to fresh water. The only tank mates are 3 otos and a few amano shrimp, who were there long before the betta.
