Hi everyone! My betta - Chance - is in a 5g tank alone. He LIKES it that way :) LOL - I kind of let him choose the tank size. He constantly is moving & 5 g is the perfect size for him.

I really, really want another betta

I can't put him/her in with Chance, obviously! And, I don't have space for another 5g tank. What is the minimum size a betta could live in, and still be happy, do you think?

Chance wasn't happy in 1 1/2 g or 2 g, which is why I moved up to 5, which he likes.

A minimum would be 2 gallons I have two males sharing a 5 gallon (divided of course) and they are happy with that. :p

My fish is a spoiled dork who watches tv & likes to be handfed & dances when I sing to him. GEEZ. LOL :fun: No wonder he thinks he has to have 5 gallons to himself!!

some people keep theirs in a 1g but i wouldnt use anything smaller than 2 g

I personally do not condone keeping bettas long-term in a 1g, even though it is considered the acceptable minimum for the species by most. I have kept bettas in 2.5g sucessfully, though again, I have not kept any in there long term so I can't really be the voice of experience in that instance. But there are some great 2.5g set-ups on the market. :good:
