Tank size: one gallon
pH:
ammonia:
nitrite:
nitrate:
kH:
gH:
tank temp: 78 degrees

Fish Symptoms He is refusing to swim unless I feed him or is going up for air. I have just started treating him for mild fin rot with AQS and clean water.

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 100% and every two days

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: Stress coat

Tank inhabitants: one betta

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): Nothing

Exposure to chemicals: Nope

it could be one of many things, but without more info it would be guesswork, what are your water stats? the majority of fish problems like ich and fin rot is usually down to poor water quality,

your beta will die, its too late, somethings wrong with the bladder. if you ever hope to get another beta i suggest u purchase a small tank around 5 gallons with a filter. changing your water too frequently will stress your fish also.

with the very little info given thats very harsh and not very sympathetic, also you dont know if it is swim bladder, it could be a number of things, without further info, like the water stats you cannot assume anything

what makes you think too many water changes are stressfull, surely poor quality water would be more damaging?

Phoenix, I agree wholeheartedly with you. There isn't enough info to be able to give a reliable diagnosis.

Platy Lover, I assume your stated 100% every two days is only what you're doing currently, whilst the betta has been ill? Whilst it's difficult to diagnose with the limited info available, that sort of level of clean water will help with an awful lot of the things it could be. You could also try feeding him a mashed boiled pea, in case he's constipated.

He is a lot better today after I put him in a larger tank. :/
