Betta Meeting

So, I went to the CBS Betta Meeting in Davis today. I just got back... err, it actually ended at 4, but I just got back. Elise was there!!! She was really nice, and so was her friend. She got a little trio from me so hopefully we'll have a new spawn diary up soon! Gahhh Elise, I miss the boy I gave you so much. He is so precious, I know you'll take good care of him. Please LMK how they're doing, Lena!

I really like my little Daphnia, and my Ramshorn. Someone told me I should crush him because he'll reproduce like crazy, but I don't have the heart to do it. And I got Water Sprite, which is freakin awesome!! I brought my best HM BF boy, who I think would be show quality, and (of course with my luck) he was practically grey he was so stressed.... which is really sad, because I have some amazing pics of him, he's gorgeous. And he and 2 of my best HM girls sold for $30, which kind of bummed me out. I was thinking "I should've kept them!!!" but they're going to a good breeder and that's cool. AND, the judge bought one of my single green HM girls, which was nice because... he's a judge . I thought I should recap that for everyone, just for fun.

They did a presentation on Betta showing, and it makes me bummed that I don't have any show boys, but I'm thinking of showing some girls. It was a really informative presentation... very detailed. It was so painful though, because I brought 3 of my friends and they were just giggling about some IM the whole time!! Well, this leads me to my question - shouldn't I show this female? Isn't she out-of-control amazing?

Hehe, yeah those poor mistreaten fish , I have two in a five gallon (split of course) and the second female you gave my friend reeeeeeally took to her so I'm not allowed to keep her, but I am babysitting until the balloon molly fry get a little bit bigger so she can move them to a different tank and free up the other tank. (She'll get a 5 gallon all to herself and a snail!)

Wow, that talk on showing was detailed. I know I'm never going to show, but I liked the pictures. My friend was bored out of her mind though!

I love the new babies!!! Thank you so much Erica! They are so adorable! That marble pair has my heart though.

I took lots of piccies, see if I can get them up later, okey? I can see why you miss him! He's such a gorgeous boy! I keep looking at him and being like "That's mine! Yay!!" My dad even said he was gorgeous and he NEVER talks about my fish....

Thanks, Elise! I'm sure they're SUPER happy! He covered half of his unheated 1gal in a bubblenest, so I think he'll bubblenest anywhere. Good luck!!! And, please let me know if you have any questions at all. They should throw some really cute babies, they both have really unqiue marbling. I'm glad your friend liked the little bent spine girl. ;0)

Jollysue, I wish you could come to a meeting! Maybe the meetings in the bay area would be closer for you? Yeah... I've been looking at that female, and it seems like she has uneven branching in her anal fin. I'll probably spawn her, though.

Davis would have been fine, but I had some fish duties, including getting Ms. Kinky a new home. I will post her new home tonight I think. She seems happy in a fish bowl. I want to put her in a special spot. But right now she's on top of the 100 usg, and she likes to be on the side of her plant with 225 watts of T-5 flourescent. Probably warmer.

Hahaha, jsut gave little piggies something to eat! That little boy is so angry at me. He says I'm nothing like mama. He wouldn't come out underneath my fingers when I dropped the pellets. He also said he broke through the divider (sneaky bastard) but he didn't find the girl because she was laying on the upmost leaf of her plant... Silly boy! I put him back and fed him a bit more. He likes me now...bloodworms always win them over!


Ps.- the girls had no problem taking food right out of my fingers--and biting me! Piglets...


edit: I also had to do some work on fixing the divider! They always break through the first time...


pps. We named the little solid girl with the crooky back: Dippy. Cuz of the little dip behind her head. She's totally cute. Oh and her little 1 gal is next to Irv's...he LOVES her, bubblenested for her!
