Hello I have a betta which is over 1 year old and I came home to see that overnight it seems to have developed some red around it’s head with a white patch behind its head

It has been eating normally the last few days and is still currently eating

The water chemistry is fine because the other fish in the tank are not showing any signs

Thank you for any help

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

It just looks like some scales have come off the fish. It might have got caught under or behind something and panicked.

Wipe the inside of the glass with a clean fish sponge.

Do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate every day for the next week. This will dilute any disease organisms in the water and reduce the chance of infection.
Make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it's added to the tank.

Clean the filter if it hasn't been done in the last 2 weeks. Wash filter media/ materials in a bucket of tank water and re-use them.

Increase aeration/ surface turbulence to maximise oxygen levels in the water.

Monitor the fish and post pictures if the area goes red and looks inflamed (bacterial infection), or it gets white fluffy stuff on it (fungus).

I don’t see anything concerning either. As Colin_T said, keep the water clean. Sometimes they begin changing colors some as the age too. Wishing good luck with your special betta.
