I posted a week ago and told a story about my male Betta named Ghost. He has taken a fondness to magically appearing in a plastic breeder I use on my planted tank to grow java moss.....here's the story.

I have a 4-compartment betta holder inside my tank that I use to grow Java Moss. It has small slits in the sides and small slits in the bottom for water flow. These slits are small, probably just big enough to fit a penny through, or a U.K. counterpart (???).

I recentely moved my betta from a 20 gallon I was getting ready to tear down, in to my 30 gallon. He started flaring and bullying the school of harlequins I have in there so I moved him to the betta holder and moved the moss out of the way. The moss took up 3 compartments, and he had his own. Well, he escaped one night and every time I brought the net close to the tank to catch him, he would dash in to the plants and hide. He would peek out every now and then to make sure I was gone. As long as I sat still, he would come out. He wasn't flaring at the other fish, either. It's almost as if he knew to behave. Well, anyway, I let him be. As long as he behaved I had no problems letting him stay loose in the tank.

I went to bed.

When I awoke the following morning, he WAS IN THE BREEDER!!!!! I don't know how he did it.

Now, he comes and goes as he wishes and I don't have the slightest. Theres no way he can fit through the slits and the top of the breeder is above the water line, but there he is. Sometimes he'll be swimming in the plants, sometimes in the breeder. He was loose last night and in the breeder this morning.

I'm clueless. Just thought I would share the story of my Magic Betta.
