Well here are my new pair of Betta foerschi. For those of you that don't know, they are another species of the genus Betta. Not the same as the typical pet store betta, which is Betta splendens, so don't expect rainbow colors. They're incredibly beautiful, IMO though. I'm hoping they'll breed, they're mouthbrooders like my falx, and it would be awesome, as they're not very common.
And ok, prepare yourself for magic. And I mean it. This is the male when he is just chillin, not eating or admiring his reflection, or his girlfriend. Just a light brownish greenish. Just wait...
AahhhhhhhAHAHAHhahahA!!!! Sorry I just love this so much. This is him after he had just finished flaring and showing off for his girl. Can you believe that color change?! SO NEAT!
One more of the male and I'm done, since I know everyone is more in favor of the more colorful fish. Anyways, here he is looking rather uh... girly?? Gooner has vertical stripes!!
Thanks Kelly. You worded how I feel about them perfectly!! Yeah, I just got one male, as all the fish on the list were sold in pairs, or in unsexed bunches. So far, the male is bugging the female more than the other way around though, so it shouldn't be a problem. I don't know if I have room for another male anyway.
I'd like to say I'm planning on breeding them, but really it's up to them now. They're mouthbrooders, so can breed right in the tank they're in. My falx sure didn't have a problem with it. Anyways, if they do, I'll move the male into the spawning tank and viola! We'll hope for the best. I'll definitely be distributing fry if the... three ... of us are successful.
