I am getting confused by the naming conventions I have seen used for betta's.

I am clear on things like Super Black, Melano Black, Black Lace which normally look alike.

I am a bit confused about descriptions like Snake Face and Monster and the like. Can anybody enlighten me on this?

can't help you with snake face and monster but I'm kinda sure that the black names are the same thing but people seem to use whatever name they feel like despite the fact a melano is a animal that has such a high number of pigments that it is completly black not half black or with a black tail

Most names like that are things breeders make up to make them sound better. Its pretty easy to do, your average red VT could be called 'Long Tailed Blood Betta', which makes it sound a whole lot interesting.

I could name my blue vt "crystal Ocean Blue betta" and make him look(in your imaganation) alot more beautiful than he actualy is.

I was trying to think of a blue betta with red wash, but couldn't come up with anything more poetic than 'Ocean's blood lontailed betta'.

It'd be a fun part of selling the betta, naming it to sound very attractive..
