Few days ago i bought black ghoast knifefis and now she is in my community tank, but one problem she doesent eat. Can see that she is hungry but cant go to the top of the water for food. I was thinking can i put her togeather with one of my bettas in 5gal tank?? Just for few mounts untill i make my new tank???

it s small tank 60L but i have only few fishes, and the BGK is small so i put her in there untill i upgrade to 200L, I was thinking because it seem peacefull that she can live togeather with the betta

i wouldnt.....

60litres is too smalle for them..... my tank at 180litres is going to be too small soon -hence why im selling mine on!

when you upgrading??

eta - mine eats pellets as well as live foods/bloodworms etc

bgk is a predator, and even a small one has a big mouth.
certainly shouldn't be in with small fish.

LFS should be shot for telling you to feed it flake.

they love bloodworm, and mussel and small bits of fish, but will also take some carnivore pellets.

as has already been said they get big (45cm)

OMG than i must hurry with my new tank,i dont want her to be uncomfortabile. Made a big mestake i should read befoure i bye new fish. First time seen that and i wanted her sooo much. Thanks to you all

They are great fish.

the ones i used to have could be hand fed, and in the right conditions can make great 'pet' fish.

BUT they can be tricky guys to get eating and must be given excellent water quality and lots of hidey places.
they are not too keen on bright lights either, so a planted tank with floating plants, or one with low wattage lighting would be good.

Feed it frozen brine shrimp. I kept mine in a community tank, it was fine in there. I don't reccommend keeping it with tiny fish. Fish such as neons I think are natural prey for them. Tonight just after you turn the lights out put a chunk of frozen brine shrinp-it'll be so happy it will give ya a kiss.
