Good luck with your cycling. Keep us posted on what you will eventually put in there. :good:

Thanks x

My 30ltr will have my current fish;

5 x black tetra
1 x betta VT male
1 x BN pleco - baby

I'm on a learning curve at the moment but hope to get a bigger tank in due course x

to aid the fishless cycle in your tank it's recommended that you put the temperature up to 29 degrees C :good:

Kinda thinking it might be better to move my fish over to the 30ltr?

I take it you've been adding ammonia for that fishless cycle (even though It doesn't say you've added some it's just coming up on the tests?)

If so I may have read something waterdrop wrote about it not being the best idea to put fish half way through a cycle but i'm a newb so it's best to ask an expert.

Your temperature is still low, the bacteria have optimnal growth at 29C i believe.

My 18ltr has fish in it for the last 3 - 4 weeks, I am not sure about putting it up to 29c, is that too warm for them?

The 30;tr's heater was only added yesterday, so I am waiting for the water to even out.

I've been adding cycle and deconditioner to the water but nothing else

No I was referring to the fishless cycle should be 29, not the fish in one!

Ah ok

The temp is evening out in the fishless one, reckon by tomorrow it be an even 28, well I hope so lol

Noob question but how do you have ammonia in your tank if you've only been adding deconditioner and cycle stuff? I'm currently fishless cycling and I havn't bothered with the cycle, but i have ammonia in my tank cos i've been adding it

It's a 2nd hand tank, was in use for 8 - 9 months prior to me using it.

Dunno how this really works but I started the process 3 days ago with the substrate sand in there.

Are we guessing that the previously used substrate had a lot of ammonia in it? (would be the case if not cleaned a lot.)

I'm going to make a suggestion you can take or leave.. it might help if you had the time and inclination this weekend to start a new fishless cycling thread for the 30L and move that data over to that thread, leaving this thread as the 18L fish-in cycle thread. My past experience is that dual tank threads get to be a communications nightmare in forum threads. Also, even though its uglier, a horizontal format for each set of test results works out better for fast scanning of multiple days later on as the log gets longer. Its just a suggestion and you can go either way, no big deal.
