betas

OK...i really want to get a beta. I think they're awesome..but i have a question..

I have a 55 gallon community tank with 3 mollies, 2 platties, 2 guppies and 5 neons tetras...

Can I put the beta in the 55 gallon with these other fish? I asked around at a couple of local pet stores, and i'm getting conflicting opinions...

Hi Dave,

The betta should be fine in your 55..I have heard several members keep their betta's in with the fish you have. I want to add a betta to my community tank, also a 55 with nearly the same fish plus a school of black skirt tetra's.. I currently have 3 males ( of course all in seperate tanks ) Betta's have alot of personality..

Yup...should be fine. Just dont get anything that is nippy like tiger barbs or serpae tetras.

i want a betta too but my tank is too small

I have exactly the same fish as you (gr8 minds think alike! ) and I have a lovely blue/red beta. He's fine and never gives/receives any problems with any of the other fish.

Get one mate, they are really fantastic to watch!
