this may be the wrong section for this and if so i apologize.
recently i bought a couple of gecko loaches and i have been reading that they enjoy algae.
as such i'm looking for the easiest way to grow algae thats not going to harm the tank and still provide food for the loaches.
any help will be much appreciated.
thanks in advance

does this work with LED's?
would it be ok to put one of the rocks in a seperate tank and leave outside?
how long will it take to grow or is it just to preference?
sorry for all the questions but i really dont have a clue

you cannot just let the fish eat algae, that is not a proper diet and it'll harm your fish in the long run. feed it algae wafers to allow for a healthy diet.

i dont mean to purely allow for algae.
they already have a mix of sinking pellets and live food,
i just wanted to give them something else as well

Get a glass or transparent plastic container large enough to keep the stones on which you want to grow algae. Place them on the window sill and dose the water with a nice dose of plant fertilizers. Green algae loves that and the stones will soon be green and possibly the water too. You can rotate some stones like that, changing some water with more tank water and plant ferts.
Algae tabs are half not as good as home grown algae :)

ok thanks a lot, thats what i was wondering but i was unsure if there was anything i had to add to encourage growth
