i just bought a 10 gallon tank for only 13 bucks at a lfs, but i can't do anything with it yet because i have no filter, pump,, or heater. I didn't buy them yet cause i didn't want to make a mistake and buy the wrong stuff  . ANyone can recommend hardware for the 10 gallon? thanks

Just about any HOB filter, a 50 watt heater, and maybe a small powerhead for movement is about it and your set!!! Need a lid and light too. ;)

I got a ten gallon beginner tank the other day and it came with a Light/hood and a 5-15 gallon Aqua tech power filter. I have six danios and they are doing great. I know it's not much help, but I'm kinda new also.

Do betta likes water current? If not, Aqua Clear 30 may be a little too much for them, even at their lowest setting...

Go for an Intercept Duo filter, either 1 or 2.
I have the Duo1 for 8 years and not once has it packed up.
It is a sponge filter and i find it easy to clean,

Personally i would get Duo 2 for your tank

I have couple of sponge filters and they do work ok.... except they don't really do a great job with mechanical filtering... (at least for me). So now I use them exclusively in the grow up tanks where there is a power filter present already - this gives me additional bio-filtering capacity.

I used to have sponge filters installed in a small tanks, but now all of them are driven by Aqua Clear Mini....

My 2c... ;)

B)
I have a fluval 2 fliter in my ten gallon tank, they are pretty powerful
