I was in my LFS (Maidenhead Aquatics), stocking up on a few things and thought to myself that I needed some bogwood for my BN.

There were dried pieces going for £6.50 per kilo (I think),I was asking questions about soaking it, when the assistant told me I cold purchase a piece that was already in one of their tanks. When Mr. Opportunity comes a-knocking, I'm not one to turn it down

So, I looked carefully in the tanks for a 4" piece and found the perfect one for my tank. At check out, the guy gave it to me for 80p!! 80P!!!!! Can you believe that :hyper:

SO my advice, if you want the bogwood ready for you, from purchase, get a woman to go chat up the shop staff for you :good:

Thats brilliant, I found another cheap place to get bog wood is "the range" that dancing bunch is doing there ad at the moment. I got two bits of mopani wood for £2.80 all in. 10" each just a shame there not soaked when you get them! But saying that i certainly prefer your method Beth! lol

I thought I'd get one with java moss on it but I kept thinking that I'b be bringing home a stuck fish

I just bought a huge piece of bog wood for my tank, its pretty heavy and cost me £16 for maidenhead aquatics. Ive now got to javamoss wrapped around it with some fishing line from ebay, hopefully it will root!

Also, Beth.... I saw a picture of you and you are hot! Sorry, just had to get that out there ;)

Maidenhead Aquatics are everywhere, not just in Maidenhead, as I originally assumed! ;)

The Southampton (Fairoak) branch kindly price matched a Juwel Rio 240 (with upgrades and extras and free delivery) which I received yesterday teatime.

Maidenhead is my part of town, well 5 miles give or take lol Love going in there. But I do miss the fact that they have taken it out of Wyveales garden center

going up to the nottingham branch today to have a look see... see how their advice compares to forum opinion and get some suggestions on stocking...

Yep!

I've always wanted to go to Maidenhead but the closest is 13 miles away and then the next closest is 17. Both meaning I have to go through the mersey tunnel and liverpool.... I like my wheels though :(

13 miles seems a bit far to bring fish back!

13 miles aint too far, if you take that theres quite a few mail order companies that send fish overnight. Go have a look, but let your insurance company know where you are going so they can bump your insurance up for the day.

Haha I will have to take out a loan to pay for the insurance excess if I told them I was going through Liverpool :p, Its not that bad! The roads are awful though, so many potholes. Im assuming 13 miles would be long enough for a few litres of warm water to cool down to dangerous low temperatures for the fish. Does Maidenhead aquatics sell polystyrene boxes?

Mail order lifestock... eugh I find that somewhat awful. A Cat has managed to get on the phone and ordered dinner for tomorrow.

So I guess Maidenhead Aquatics is a chain? I hear you UKers talk about it a fair amount...

Yep sure is! Maidenhead, They've even pumped out some adverts onto tv!
