A store near me sells bamboo for fish tanks and I wanted to get some. Is there any special care for bamboo? Thanks in advance.

Don't put the plant completely underwater.

I agree with @Crispii. Bamboo plants grow partially out of the water.

It is a pretty nice plants overall.

Would I take the lid off the top of my HOB filter and place it inside? It sounds like a good idea.

Yes if you were to do that you would have to take the lid off

Don't bother keeping it in the tank, they get too big and eventually fall out. Grow it in a pot next to the tank.
