His color is great and after a few days of heavy breathing, his breathing is back to normal. Yet his eating has changed some. Before he would let the top eaters eat then eat the food that was dropping or go scavenge the tank bottom for the rest and even loved tropical wafers. Now he just swims mid-level and watches the food drop and never goes to the bottom. The only thing i have been able to get him to eat lately was some bloodworms that were floating around the mid level of the tank. Should i just give him a few more days or do you think he is sick. Breathing and color have all returned to normal after a few days of heavy breathing and loss of a little color on his rear fin.

Hi i think u should give him a few days and see if he pick up a little :look:

have you tried a tonic like liquisil? It has usually perked my balas up over the years

Need water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, how many gallons or litres is the tank, bala should be kept in groups to be happy.
Also what other fish are in the tank, how many and which type.

yes I agree they dont like being kept out of a group

have you just the one?

Would this be the fish which featured in your recent thread Strange Combo Seems To Be Working Well. If so, it's a 20 gallon tank containing: one pleco, rapheal catfish, and a red fin shark, one small bala shark, blue gourami (small as well), and an albino tiger barb.

If so, there are several problems. These fish should not really be together, several schooling fish are kept singly and there may be problems with the water stats, due to size of fish/waste production.
