DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME>>>>>

I DID THIS AS A CHILD AND I FEEL BAD FOR IT ....

I know if you cover bread pieces in Baking soda and give them to seagulls the seagulls will explode ....

It works with alkaseltzer (ok i have no idea how to spell that word) too.

Disclaimer: It was just a discussion in science class, I would never do something like that to a living animal.

St. You were planing on keeping some 5 plecs in a 75 gallon and your signature said (untill i brought it up) that you had a common plec in a 10 gallon then it disapeared hmm... perhaps there are people who know more about fish than you do.

Bicarb, should be added to soft water tanks, to keep the pH stable. I used to have to add at least 2 tea spoons per week to my 1000gall system to keep the pH from crashing. This was for a discus breeding setup. It is very safe to add to fish tanks, as long as you keep an eye on the water parameters.

BTW my tap water is 100us, <1gh <1kh
