I read in the leaflet that came with the livebreader food that the baby fish if in a breeder trap can get die from the water heating up from the light and that they can die from no circulation in the breeders trap? CAn this happen because i have 3 swordtails babys in a breeder trap. And i dont want them to die as they are the only survivors from the battle!! Any ideas??? :pepsi:

If you have a flourescent bulb there shouldn't be any problem, they usually don't give off much heat. Its regular light bulbs (like the ones most people use in their ceilings) that give off a lot of heat. If your bulb heats up the top of the water than I would suggest not having the bulb on in the tank with the fry. Often if the wrong type of bulb is used it can heat up the water to the high 80s but not the entire tank just the top few inches. But flourescent bulbs don't give off much heat and shouldn't be a problem.

It is a flourescent tube so thats ok  but what about the circulation in the breeding trap? 8)

i have a breeding trap with slots in the sides for water circulation, a Lee's 3-Way Guppy breeder. no worries about circulation if it's slotted or a net trap, but if it isn't i'd worry o_O

If it's a net trap or one that has slats, you will have no problem with circulation. If it's not (unusual -_- ) you could take a little water out, every day, and put some more in from the main tank.

If it is directly underneath a bulb, you might want to be concerned about the temperature, but if not, don't worry too much about that either. :) Have you checked it with a thermometer?

ive got a breeder box that has slots all around it but as well as that it has an airstone in its own compartment....so u attach the air pump n the oxygebn bubbles rise up...along a tube.....and out the holes disturbing the surface and oxygenatin the water

its made by interpet n its called an easy flow i think....cost £4
