i found a lone fry in my tank today... i think all the others must have been eaten because i'm shure the mum would have dropped out more than 1 baby and this one was having a hard time off the bigger fish so i'm guessing the others did too.

should i set up a makeshift tank in a large plastic bowl with my tank water and my secondary tank filter or just leave the baby in my net at the top of tank?

also, what should i fed it? i put a few crumbled bits of flake in there and they disappeared but i didnt see him eat them, so maybe the fish on the out side managed to chomp it through the net?

thanks

ground flakes, baby brine shrim and blood worms seem to be wat everyone else uses, if u jus wanna keep it simple stick wit the flakes. and yea its ok to leave him in the net i dont c y it would hurt haveing him there.

gl :D

I have 7 baby mollies, 5 weeks old! I bought a breeder net, which lies in the main tank and just separates them from the rest. Ground up flakes are just fine... what I do, to add some variety, is take a Ziplock bag, throw some flakes in there, some freeze dried blood worms and brine shrimp, and close the bag and smoosh... then sprinkle some in the baby net a couple of times a day (they saw smaller portions but more often for the fry). Good luck!

it doesnt seem to be accepting ground up flakes anymore :(, i'll stick at it tho, plenty of time for more attempts at breeding

I have 7, 2-month old black mollies and 13 1.5-month old mollies. I put flakes in the corner of a plastic bag, closed it tightly with a rubber band, and crunched the flakes almost into a powder. You can also buy fry food at pet stores. The fry also love baby brine shrimp. You can buy brine shrimp eggs at pet stores.

A while ago I found a single fry in my tank. I'm assuming the others got eaten. I put him in a different tank because I didn't want him to get eaten. Unfortunately he didn't make it. I'm not sure exactly why, but maybe they survive better in numbers rather than solo. I never saw him eat either though.

I hope your little guy survives!

I used the powdered flake trick with my 3 two month olds, but I have treated the 6 2 wks olds to some proper livebearer fry food, cost me about £1.50 from Petsmart and is a liquid form - but it isnt all that good and sinks to the bottom of the breeder tank....... they then have to swim to the bottom to feed...........................
