I am in the process of setting up a tank for two Asterophysus batrachus. I knew they required a current, but I heard they need one that is very strong or else they won't survive. Is this ture, and if so just how much current do they need, i.e. how many gallons or liters per hour.

Just a good steady current is enough, i have my single gulper in a 30g tank with a 120 gph powerhead providing current.

Your biggest worry should be that they dont eat each other.

Hey thanks CFC. My lfs was telling me like 1200 gph.

Well it all depends on the tank size, but 4-5 times per hour turnover plus filtration is pleanty for all but the most extreem of riverine fish.
