hi guys and girls.. Just bought a Arrowana.. Just for sum advice, are they evil in a kinda sense, they will eat my fish.. Its only about 6cm at the moment (cost £30) :p

Which species os Arowana is it? Silvers and blacks are quite peaceful and will ignor fish that are too big to be eaten, jardinis (australian arowanas) can be aggressive, temperments vary from fish to fish. As long as the tankmates are at least 1/2 the size of the arowana and reasonably tall bodied they should be ok, fish with a slim profile will disapeer very quickly, other surface dwellers should be avoided too. To ensure your arowana stays peaceful avoid feeding large live foods, i feed my jardini on live crickets, hikari floating carnivor sticks, frozen cockles and bloodworms.

Its a silver one. at the moment with it being so small at the moment, its just i my comminity tank.. as it gets bigger, i`ll place it with me oscars and shovels noses and clarius`s.. And then move me red tail cat out, as that will prob demolish the lot..

Are they tiger shovelnoses or sorubim lima shovelnoses? Tiger shovelnoses have a particualar habbit of hunting and eating arowanas so do not make good tankmates, limas are ideal. If you have a redtail in with that lot then it will deffinately need to be moved, other catfish are a favourite food of RTC's and oscars and a arowana will make nice dessert.

I see... :/ i have tiger shovels and the limas.. erm damn lol.. did`nt quite think this through did i.. oh well i suppose it gives me another exuse to by another 6ft tank :)

do you know how big all those fish are going to get, and what size tank you are going to need. I have most of the same fish as you have and have kept most of them. you are looking @ 800gallon+

nice fish B)

 i have 3 6x2x2 tanks.. and two of them i`m having joint together, i think that should be big enough.. atleast i certanly hope so.. :)

that's about 300gallons. mostof the fish should be ok in that but the redtail may eed some more space, depending on the eventual size.

I was thinking of placing a sort of like.. paddling pool, but obvioulsy a big one, and placing it in me garage.. but prob would be xpensive on the heating..
