I'm working on aquascaping my 55g tropical tank. I've got all the substrate and decor (driftwood, stones, etc.) arranged how I want it, and I've got a good plan on how I want to arrange my plants. However, there is one thing I'm not sure about.

Is it most aesthetically pleasing to group plant species together, or is it best to just sort of scatter them around?

I realize this may be a matter of personal opinion, but I'm curious to hear your opinions too.

Furthermore, I only have a couple species in my tank right now, and I sort of did it out of order. I started with the middle ground, rather than the recommend back-to-foreground approach. How should I handle it when I get more plants? Should I just plan on re-arranging everything? Should I spend some serious time visualizing, and leave open spots? What would be easiest?
