Hi all!

I love the look of planted tanks, but I fear I wont be able to maintain it to its best, (i'm not very green fingered!). I was wondering if there is a particular type of plastic or silk plants which look remarkably real? And is there any reason to choose silk over plastic (or vise versa)?

Im aware a actual planted tank helps lower nitrate levels, but is there any other reason why people choose real over plastic, other than personal preference? I'm able to keep my nitrate down low 10 - 20ppm, so algae shouldnt be a problem?

Well, even with low nitrate levels I still get algae... with real plants, it's fun to see them grow and I'm sure the fish like them better than fake plants (I would think, anyway..)

Plus, don't you think real plants look so much better than fake plants? I haven't seen any fake plants that look as good as real plants. But yea, I guess it's up to personal preference. You can get plants that are low maintenance, low light, so you don't have to spend too much time taking care of em.
