Hi Everyone!

That's the question really! I've got some young sterbai who just aren't growing very fast. I've had them for about 4 months now and they don't seem to have changed very much. In the meantime I got some young bronze corys who are absolutely shooting up, as they say :) My tank is kept at 26 C pH is probably 7.8 the tank isn't very heavily stocked and they are fed a variety of high quality dried and frozen foods.

Whatcha think?

I have 2 sterbais and 2 albinos all the same age baught at the same time and the sterbais are tiny, they dont grow as big as others usually. dont worry theres nothing wrong with them :)

hi, you could try turning the temp down to 24 and see if that makes a difference. Cories seem to like it cooler. Also are you feeding them live/frozen/dried food like bloodworms and tubiflex?

the lady at my lfs told me if I wanted good strong cories then to feed them plenty of meat. I've followed that advice and they've all grown quite fast

They get fed frozen bloodworm or frozen daphina (though they don't seem to wild about it so I'm going to switch to something else I think) twice a week and they get a mix of TetraPrima, Tetra Mixed Wafers and TetraMin flakes every night on the other days of the week. They also get a bit of Hikari Pleco wafer too a few times a week.

Seriously Fish says 24-28 - I'd be willing to drop it to 25 though :)

mine arn't keen on Daphnia either but they go crazy for dried tubiflex blocks stuck to the glass.

As for your temp, I guess it depends on whether their tank mates can cope with the drop in temp. My platies ain't bothered but I know very little about the rest of your stock in your sig.

It was Harlequins that told me that cory fry grow better at lower temps - I can only presume the same applies to juniors aswell.

I've changed it to 25, in reality the fish in my tank would probably be fine with 24, but for some reason I feel like I need to try and stay in the mid-levels of what their "temperature range" is, I guess I just read it as being where they are comfiest, probably silly of me hehe

Its possible, they could of been stunted early on,this will keep them smaller than average or could just be slow developers...

Your temperature was okish at 26 ,Sterbai's prefer and can tolerate higher temperatures 26- 30 degrees, but has you have bronze i wouldn't go over 26 degrees :good:

The bronzes are actually moving out soon :) They've found a new crash pad to fill with 100s of eggs lol They were a total impulse buy so I'm going back to my original plan to keep sterbais.

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I've basically been reassured that I'm doing the right things so I just need to let them do whatever they're gonna do! :D
