I have mentioned on the forums before that I set up a 10g community tank for my dad and in this tank, there is a snail that was very small not long ago. But it is now nearly an inch long. The question is, can the snail hurt the fish in the tank? (long finned blue danios, platys, oto, cory)

The snail was about ___ as big as the line, and is now ___________ about that big.

any ideas?

My dad is worried. But he hasnt called me about any catastrophes lately so maybe its nothing.

OK! Thanks!!

Snails are harmless to fish. I wouldn't worry unless you have live plants.

I have never heard of snails being a problem with fish before. In a small tank they do sometimes have a tendency to *escape* by climbing out of the tank though so thats something to watch for.

Hi CHiNaSpaZz :)

It's not likely that the snail could hurt your fish, but it will eat them if they happen to die.

It might be a good idea to try to identify it though, because some snails do get quite large. It is part of the community in that small aquarium and if it continues growing, there might just be too many occupants in there.
