I have mentioned on the forums before that I set up a 10g community tank for my dad and in this tank, there is a snail that was very small not long ago. But it is now nearly an inch long. The question is, can the snail hurt the fish in the tank? (long finned blue danios, platys, oto, cory)

The snail was about ___ as big as the line, and is now ___________ about that big.

any ideas?

My dad is worried. But he hasnt called me about any catastrophes lately so maybe its nothing.

OK! Thanks!!

No mostv snails are beneficial to your tank, I think there is one snail out f all of thwm that is bad for your tank because it causes the fish to have fits, I cant remeber the name of this snail but I dont think they are that common.

Most other snails are good because
1 they eat the remainder of food that lies on the bottom of your tank.
2. they clear algae from the tank , and
3.they keep general maintenance of the tank.

I have had snails in my tank for some time now and it is always very clean and water quality is good.

so I wouldn't worry too much about them. If you are worried do a google search and see if you can identify them.
