Hello there

I’ve just got these two fish from the pet store and I believe they’re Firemouth chiclids? Do you know if they are male and female? Are they Firemouths? I’ll attach a photo :)

Yep. Those are firemouths.

It's hard to sex them, but in time you'll find that males are larger and have more red around their mouths. This will be even more apparent if you have 2 fish of the opposite sex.

Your fish won't colour up that well due to the bright substrate, no backing and no plants.
Put a picture on the back of the tank.
Add some floating plants and more plants in the gravel. If you don't want more plants in the tank, then add some more ornaments, like driftwood or something to make caves.
