I have had multiple planted tanks and would love to help out fish hobbiest out there who need helps on the aquatic plants..or also get some tips from, as well..

here are few things to consider when buying plants

1. Make sure to check there are no snails on the plants or dead attached leafs.
2. Find out what type of lighting you have, and RESEARCH what plants you like and how much lighting they are needed ...before just buying plants by the look.
3. Make sure to check if your fishes are competitable with the plants....like oscars wont be good with plants. make sure to check
4. Check the temperature required by the plants...much rather keep the temperature for fishes, rather than plants..so check whats your options.

I do not use CO2 pellets or the kit..but still my plants do so well..will post picture soon...thanks!

Welcome

Definetly. Research and more research is the key. The "high light plant" termonology has sort of been dispelled. "High light plants" can be grown very well in low light if they are given good CO2 and nutrients.

I agree that fish come first. Most aquatic plants we keep are ok from anywhere between 20degC to 28degC. Higher temperatures will encourage faster growth rates due to an icreased metabollic rate.

Whether someone needs CO2 is largely dependent on how much light is over the tank. The more light, the more CO2 and nutrients needed. There are however some plants that do need more CO2 and nutrients than others, for example HC.

Perhaps create a topic in the journal section? That way you can keep us all up to date with your tank's progress.

I do use DIY co2 here and there..but most of my plants are low light and use nutrients for plants ;)...co2 kit is just too much for me to invest at this moment,. and had this tank established about 2 to 3 yeaers..and my plants been good luckily ;)
