For my other tanks, 14 hours a day works great. But the Nicrew is more powerful I guess? :dunno:

Maybe, they're very close to the top of the tank too which i suppose is alot more penetrative perhaps?

The frogbit offers some shade, but the majority of the algae is near the top.

Update!

Wasn’t planning on doing an maintenance today, but I was persuaded, lol.

(Warning: trash photos may cause permit eye damage/screen cracking*)
Here it is!

As you can see most of the algae is gone.

This crypt is looking amazing:

This other dark one is doing OK, but not the best:

The Corys also seem happy:

(There are 7 in there now)

GBNT are doing good. They are still shy though, which is a bummer. :/

——

Going to do a bit more trimming and then will move onto the 29g...

(Again, sorry for the trash photos. My camera wash focusing on the muck that I just stirred up...)

Well... catching the Bloodfins to sell back to my LFS didn’t go so well...

Current stock:

-8x False Julii Corydoras

——

Plan:

Rescape sometime today or tomorrow, and move all the stock from my 29g over to this tank, including that bloody Julii that’s still in there. ?

Rescape will definitely come today, or at least part of it.

Going to move the large driftwood piece from my 29g over to my 20g long, because my Pleco likes it. Will also be willing lots of plants over.

The whole thing will probably take me a solid 2 hours, if not more.

Not going to do anything else, I didn’t have time. Also not going to have time tomorrow, as I have work. Possibly will get some solid work done on Friday.

Here is the the tank now:

I left the crypts in place, because their roots are insane:

Vals look ok considering the circumstances:

I moved all the other plants over to the 29g, just for the time being:

I know, I know, super over planted. ? Shouldn't last that long though.

The little shrimp swimming all around the emptier tank (the one with no plants I mean) made me laugh. You have made some good progress!

Water is cloudy in the tank, although the filter has been running nonstop for a couple of days. I sure hope it isn’t a bacteria bloom, most likely not.

I will clean the filter and possibly add another internal filter later today, once I get back from work.

I might be able to move the driftwood from the 29g over to the 20g once I get home from work.

——

I do need to add more sand, because a ton of sand was pulled out in the roots. All of the Anacharis roots were so compact, it felt like a mat! ?

Well, um ok, not really impressed with Aqueon’s filter capabilities ?:

I cleaned and disassembled the filter last night, so hopefully that will help. I need to do 1 more sand vacuum before I start adding hardscape, and I would like the water to be clear.

——

Tested for Ammonia and Nitrite, both of which were 0ppm:

I already have a plan for how I want the tank layout to be, I just need clear waterrrr. ?

I'm not sure that ammonia test reads 0 PK? The one on the right, yeh?

Are you turning this into SW setup now or just rescaping?

Yes, it could be 0.1 ppm though, it’s always hard to read results: (a blue sponge was also behind it, so it may have made it look green)

Oh no, I’m keeping this one a freshwater setup, and moving all of the stock from my 29g over to this tank, so I can turn the 29g into a SW tank. :)

You can check out my SW thread if you like. It’s kind of jumbled though: https://www.fishforums.net/threads/interested-in-sw.462661/

Just cleaned the filter cartridge. It is (was) nasty. It kinda grossed me out, especially because I just cleaned it out last night.

It is doing it’s job, it’s just taking a while.

I have to school to finish up anyway, so hopefully it will be clea by the time I’m done with school. :)

Ok GOOD, it’s not a bacteria bloom, just cloudy water. I guess I stirred up a ton of muck, but it is getting more clear:

I WILL rescape tomorrow, even if I have to die trying. I’ve just been so busy lately..

Tank is definitely getting more clear. Tonight should give plenty of time for it to clear up.

My plan for tomorrow:

I’ll remove all the plants from the 29g and put them in a 5g bucket. (I know, that will be a ton of plants in the bucket, but I need the room). I’ll remove the driftwood pieces from the 29g and put them in the 20g.

I’ll probably just knock all of it out in an hour or 2.
