I'm currently planning a scape for my new tank (36"x18"x24") and am hoping to put a sand 'path' through part of it. One one side is a wooded/jungly area, and on the right will be a rocky/jungly area. Substrate will be dirt walstad style :good:

My question is how can I stop my foreground plants (likely Marsilea Hirsuta or similar - short and propergates by runners) from growing out of my dirt area into the sand? I'm thinking that weed netting like I use in reptile vivs and the garden would work, but just want re-assurance before I go any further down this route.

Cheers! :good:

you need to think about using dividers of some sort. Often used is the corrugated plastic stuff from garden centers.

This pic is courtesy of Mark Evans, it just shows how to use the corrugated stuff.

Excellent! would that be able to stop plants growing through?

in theory yes, but you may get the odd creeper over the top. :good:
