Hi guys

I have a 60 litre tank with one six inch Pleco in it. Pleco / water is all fine but i have just put well wash aquarium sand in.

Every time the plec moves the sand fogs the aquarium up and take quite a while to settle back down again and for the white foggyness to go.

Will this go in time and the sand will settle quickly, as a am considering taking all the sand out and doing a complete change to gravel or a bare bottom as i cant enjoy my tank at the moment!!

Thanks

John

the sand will always get stirred up when the plec does that im afraid. is the plec you have the 1 in your pic? if so thats a sailfin plec and its gonna get massive , youre best off re-homing the plec .

Hey, thanks for the reply.

In this case i may just change to gravel then :(

My plec isn't the one in the pic but he is a sailfin. I am planning to re-home him but not quite yet, have had him for two years and am quite attached to the little fella!

trouble with sailfins is they are not exactly the easiest fish to re-home due to the size they get to and how messy they are . im in the process of re-homing all my stock to do a complete change in my tank , and im willing to bet my right arm that the plec is the last 1 left and ends up going to lfs .

you could upgrade if you wanted to keep the plecc but youre really looking at a 100g tank for that ,

Well, to be honest, i have just put him in a 60 litre as he outgrew his 25 litre, i only have space for a 60 litre, but i get a new house in 8 months time and am putting money aside for a bigger 100/125 gallon tank.

A 60 litre will help me get some experience too before i go huge!

Sand is definatley going though all he does a thrash his tail and mess it all up!!!
