Were thinking of moveing the fish inside for the winter, since there is only three now two died, when we were on vacation. I don't think the pond filter provides adequet filtration, but as we have to buy one for the indoor aquarium, it would be great if we could move it also worked outside in the summer anyone have suggestions on what would work good?

And don't feel like makeing another thread so, can an aquarium sit on the floor?

Thankyou

Depending of the size of your pond it could work, but you would have to have a pump inside the tank to pump it ot the filter then the return would make quite a current unless you took it down with some piping and made it like a external canniter outlet.

Pretty sure you can sit a tank on the floor but you should still put some mats or the polyserene tiles under to balance it out.

What size tank and pond do you have and what fish are they?

Abit confused by your question, may just be me  Am I right in thinking you want to filter an indoor tank for the Goldfish with the pond filter? If so this is fine but as paul says you will have to have a pump in the tank if it is a box filter, this can look abit unsightly. If you are talking about an external filter for your current infoor tank than it is fine on the floor, all of mine sit on the bottom shelves of the fish tank stands.

I don't know paul confused me :S

But let me try again we are moveing the goldfish inside for the winter to about a forty gallon tank. For the forty gallon tank filter i am intrested in anything I can move back outside when the goldfish go back out, :dunno:

For our pond we just have an internal filter that pumps water through a sponge and some bioballs, should I look at something like this or more of a canister filter?
Or is a fluval indoor filter filter tough enough to go outside?
can you see what I'm getting at?

I'm just looking for suggestions
Cost is an issue though

You want a filter you can use indoors as well as out thats what you mean :p

I would just get an external pond box filter and use it on the tank for the time being until you move the fish back outdoors, it will looks unsightly but it is only temporary. :)

Moi, confusing

I said exactly what everyone else did.......and answered your other Q!!

My point was that you will have quite a large pump compared to the tank inside it feeding the filter which will be a large box sittings at the side above the tank somewhere.

and on the return of the water from the filter as it will be quite a drop will cause quite a current, probable shifting any substrate around aswell and if the goldfish are a different bred like fancies they'll get knackered swimming agaist the current......therefore you should assemble some pipe work so the outlet doesn't make as much current and noise!!

Simple :D
