Put some floating plants in the tank. Water Sprite (Ceratopteris thalictroides/ cornuta) is the best floating plant and can also be planted in the gravel.

Think I have a good balance of fish and plants . After 2 weeks no water change nitrate, nitrite, ammonia all 0 and hardness all within range.
