The Apponogeton (Apons) come in a bulb that you put in your tank with out burrying in most cases. These plants take anywhere from 2-5 days to sprout. Once sprouted they will root themselves into the gravel. These plants are fast growers and have the potential to take over your tank if you have too many. Some Apons will grow 3-5" in 15 days while others will grow 6-8" in 15 days. On occasion you will find one that defies all plant laws and will grow a good 12-18" in a matter of hours. As I have seen done. These plants grow fast under good lighting and with fertilizers and or a good fertal substrait. Regular water changes will also promote good growth.

These plants can and do get large and will flower above the surface. Some have actual flowers others don't. All are very good at beating the algae in the nutrient war and so are a good plant in general to have in your tank.
