One of my father apple snails has rapidly lost weight, at 1st he appeared to have some flaking disorder, but it appears that this was food that he had stored, he does come out of his shell and very randomly moves at a snails pace lol unlike the other one in the same tank which has nearly doubled in size at the sime time and is rapid, visually as far as i can tell everything is in order physically but i am no expert. Any ideas, i have just put him in my tank with platy fry, in case his new yoyo loaches fancied an easy meal.

cheers

Did you feed him anything? A boiled carrot roll or fish flakes would work. I feed mine separately due to a greedy hoplo catfish that steals food from snails. I put the snails in a bowl, give them some flakes, they eat them all and then I put them back in the tank.

their was plenty of algae tabs etc, near him in the bottom, my old man tends to overfeed his fish tbh.

Are the other fish picking on him? He might be scared of the fish and not eating. Try separating him during feeding.

no he has rarely been harassed, i just put him in a glass with some boiled carrot, he's half out of his trapdoor, lets hope he's hungry.

cheers

My apples just can't resist the boiled carrots. They drill holes through them X))

he still aint eating, he appeared to be, but no marks on the carrot, tried lettuce also, what about pleco tabs?

Did you boil the carrot well enough so that he can chew? Mine had problems chewing it when it was too hard.
I don't know about algae tablets, never tried them. Lettuce - they hate it.
Another favorite is cucumber but I've heard it has no nutritional value.
Tropical Flakes are also making mine go mad.

Try courgette or broccoli stalks, a few seconds in the microwave will soften them enough
