If you have other, non-agressive fish already in situ, the Agassizii could be the way forward. From what I have read in the last two weeks, they are supposed to be one of the least agressive Apistogrammas, while being colourful and full of character. They were on my long term wishlist, until I was told they are not so easy to source in the UK.

really? not easy to get in the UK?

2 of the 3 LFS near me have them in stock! no ordering or anything, they're already there. and one of those is at a garden centre. I didn't realise they were supposed to be hard to get.

apisto cacatuoides seem to be the most adaptable to different environments with different ph levels etc, but really, i think it's down to your choice, keep looking at pictures, see if you can see any anywhere and see if you like how they act.

if you know where to look there easy to get
if you can get the fire red agassizi get them there awsome
i have the agassizi and baenschi both great the agassizi are the more agressive out of the 2 and there very territorial

Oh, the availability of Agassiziis were a problem for my specialist LFS :/

Wow good availability list :) If it were me I would go for the Viejeta or the Njesseni - but it depends if you want to add them to a community or start a tank around them...

Most apistos are going to be similar temperments, and if the apistos are the central point of the tank to base them around you can go with fish suited to their levels of issues.

Now what were you plans for tank size and tank mates?

Also you might need to peat filter to lower the Ph

:good: sounds awesome :) go for it any will fit in there pretty well :D

1 Male and 2 or 3 Females, cant decide if you should stick to 2 or not.... 2 will be okay but 3 should be done with caution. Main reason being that sometimes the cories can wander into breeding sites and get a bit of a beating and with a big school like that and 3 females making nests they might end up being a bit stuck for floor space...

Which halfbeaks do you have? Not a problem just curious as Ive been interested in them a while :)

scotty, the one from jacko32's signature up above is stunning, why not get a few of them

I think its up to you really your water is spot on for all of them :) It just depends on which you like the most. Personally I would go for Viejita or Njesseni, both are stunning and look fantastic also a bit different and rare so not many others will have them.....
