Hi all,

Does anyone has good experience in using API General Cure for treating internal parasites?

Currently, I'm using Flubendazole to treat my Discus but it seems to take a few weeks to see the results.
I read a forum where someone experienced the same thing with Flubendazole which takes loing time to see results.

So, I am checking whether can I use API General cure to treat internal parasites in my Discus?
One of my Discus seems to have recovered from internal parasites and has started to eat vigorously after treatment with Flubendazole.
But another one Discus seems to pass out white poop and stop eating.

Thanks in advance.

API General Cure contains Metronidazole and Praziquantel.
Metronidazole treats internal protozoan infections.
Praziquantel treats tapeworm.

Flubendazole treats intestinal worms.

Depending on what problem the fish have, will determine what you use to treat them.

What are the symptoms and how long has it been going on for?

The Discus has stopped eating for 2-3 weeks. Initially it passed some white poop.
But now I don't see any more poop and it eats very little almost like not eating.
It just looked at the food but not really interested to eat.
The body and stomach still look normal.
It stays at the front of the tank most of the time.

When it first arrived in my tank in Feb, it eats almost any kind of pellets except the beef heart.
All other Discus were eating beef heart except this particular Discus.
But then for the past 2-3 weeks, it has stopped eating.
Also, I have stopped feeding them with beef heart since 1-2 weeks ago.

It's probably an internal protozoan infection. Metronidazole might help.

Beef heart and other mammal meats should not be fed to fish because they don't digest it as well as marine based foods like prawn, fish and squid.

Make sure the fish isn't being picked on by others

Thank you Colin.
I'm also afraid that another Discus(the big bully) might be picking on this fish.
The big bully is also picking on other Discus but other Discus continue to eat as normal despite the presence of the big bully.

I hope it's not due to the big bully.
