Anyone use Hikari Excel pelletes?

Well, I purchased a bag of this vegetarian pelletes few months ago, thinking it will become the staple food for my mbunas. When I saw it for the first time, I was surprized how large it was, especially given that it is supposed to be small pelletes.

I tried feeding it the first time, and none of the yellow labs could fit it in their mouth! (they are all under 2 inches). Few of the P Acei managed to eat them but its like human trying to eat an apple without hands... (they are tad over 2 inches).

Since then, I have not fed this food.

So does anyone use this food? It is supposed to be good, but I guess my fishes are too small!

I just bought nutrafin spirulina cichlid sticks and have the same problem they are to big for most of my fish

On top of that, they are real hard to crush as well - I cannot do it when it is dry, using my hands... May be I should try to wet it first before trying to crumble them... (Or just wait until P Acei and Yellow Labs grow larger... )

I got these too.....and had the same problem. They were classed as medium pellets.I went back to my lfs and my friendly fish man ordered me in some mini pellets.Even the smallest of my mbunas can deal with these.HTH.
