HEY GUYS

I am gettin a 75g and wanted to put it in my room a structural engineer is gunna come check the house out to see if it would be ok but i was wonderin do any of u all have large tanks in ur rooms (or anywhere or the SECOND floor)? and if so did ya run into problems or not?

THANKS

I've got a 65 in my living room, I guess you would consider it the second floor as it's above the basement. No problem at all, 50 year old double brick house with 2x10 joists 16" on center.

If you consider that 75 gallons is about 180L, and 1L of water weighs 1kg, thats only 180kg and thats like a very fat guy standing in the corner. And dont forget that the wide base of the tank stand will distribute the weight evenly so it would exert even less pressure than a really fat guy standing in the corner...

LOL YES ya i am hopein that it is ok it is pretty long so the weight will be spread out along the supporting wall

And p.s. my dads pretty fat and one of his favorite places is the corner so i think it should be good

I don't think you'll get that fat guy to stand in the same spot for a few years. Check out http://badmanstropicalfish.com/articles/article28.html
