I'm in the process of cycling my 125 gal fresh water tank. My 4 yr old is anxious to get fish. It's only been about 5 days since I started my cycle - no nitrite reading yet, my ammonia is arount 4ppm. My lfs suggested Bio-Spira but I'm a little skeptical and this stuff is expensive - $11.00 for 1 oz (treats 30 gal) and 19.99 for 3 oz (treats 90 gal). I'm debating whether I should continue my fishless cycle or give this stuff a try.

That stuff works wonders.

Put it in the tank, wait a day or so, and start putting fish in.

The bacteria bloom goes away in about a week and you're done.

Just don't over stock it too soon.

I've never had any problems with it. Yes, it's on the pricey side, but it's well worth it. No more losing fish!!

Should I perform a water change before adding the bio-spira? I've already added ammonia to my tank for my fishless cycling.

It shouldn't be a problem. Though I've never added it after starting a fishless cycle.

If you feel uneasy about it, change the water to be on the safe side, and you can always talk to someone at your LFS

I've heard nothiing but good things about the stuff. Unfortunately it's also so popular my LFS can't get any of it in stock either.
