I know I know, mbuna eat most plants! Well, unfortunately, I ended up with more lights in that tank than any other tank I own, currently at 2w/g. pH is at 8 and KH and GH are around 8. Substrate is sand.

Given this, are there any plants that will survive through this condition? I do have java ferns already, which are growing well. I don't want to put java moss in there. Anything that resembles grass or taller than few inches would be nice.

Would anubia be ok as well in here? Oh curerntly the tank holds Yellow Lab, P Acei, and a bristlenose pleco, if that helps.

Swordplants, Anubias and Vallis my hold up to the fish. Should be fairly easy to grow. You plec might take a liking to them though as well :crazy: ;)

The Anubias will grow on wood, rock and in the sand providing you don't bury them too deep or they'll rot. The swords and Vallis will love the sand as well and should grow pretty well ;)

Alright! Thanks! :lol:

One more question - could either Bacopa Monnera or Hygrophilia
Difformis be suitable in this tank?

In fact, of the two tanks could they be ok in either?

Tank 1:
pH = 8.0
KH = GH = 8
Substrate = Sand

Tank 2:
pH = 7.2
KH=2, GH=3
Substrate = Pool Filter Sand

Thanks again!

I'd say they'd be ok in either. They're quite easy to grow and fairly hardy. I don't think they would stand up to Mbuna though ;)

Oops, forgot to mentiona small detail... Tank 1 has 2w/g and the 2nd tank has just under 1w/g....

anubias are kept similarly to java fern , only they grow much slower .Do fine in low light , but can end up covered by algea

IMO they would be a good choice for you . water wisteria or hygrophila deformis .are good hard water plants as well .May grow to the surface and kind of spread out .

Thanks for the confimations! I'll try them out. ;)

some Sagittaria and echinodorus species can be put medium hard water , maybe they'll work for you .

I've been looking for some dwarf Sagitaria and so far, no luck... I am about to get some Bacopa Monnera and Hygrophilia Difformis through exchange. Hopefully these will survive in my tanks. ;)
