Ok so im probably 2 months away from getting any, but i'd like to get a list of corals going in. So far with what i've looked into, i like xenia, elegance, brain, and green bubble. are there any aggression issues? I have a Glo T5 HO 2x54w and i'm going to have it over open top, can anyone recommend other corals? Thank for the help.

Xenia - can't see a problem
Elegance - leave till you are more experienced and tank is mature
Brain - again leave till tank more mature
Green bubble - yes, fancy one of these myself

A nice long polyped leather (Sarcophyton)
colony of zoas
ricordias
Hammer or frogspawn (Euphylia)
Clove

Wisest would be to wait 2-4 weeks until the tank is really established

after it finishes cycling, leave it sit empty for that long?

No, it shouldn't sit empty after it has cycled, test, add cuc, wait, test, add a fish, test :good: then wait, test and see how things go - as Ski says :good:

Hi
Yep, i did exactly what seffieuk is saying :good: CUC, then 1st fish, wait 2nd fish etc..... Been adding a couple of corals a week. Mainly Zoas, Star polyps, and other type polyps. The Sarcophyton that Seffie mentioned are really nice, i have just got one - pic below

so you're saying to add fish while i add the corals? Because the marine biologist at my lfs said to add corals first then fish. I was going to add my cuc then corals and wait like 6 months before putting fish in, no?

Hi
I'm no expert, but i do not believe that you will need to wait 6 months for a fish. I think i added 2 Zoas a couple of days prior to the first fish. Funnily enough, there's a marine biologist who works at one of my lfs too. He hasn't said anything like that, in fact he sold me my 2nd fish. He knows my set-up and how long its been up and running.

Oh, BronzeCat that is one nice Sarcophyton

Lyo,

Some suggest cuc, then coral, then fish or a combination
Others say cuc, fish then coral

Most of us went the cuc, fish, coral then another fish, then another coral....... if you get the picture. Either way is fine, just don't leave your lr in the tank after it has cycled without anything :good:

I seem to remember reading something Ski wrote about adding coral first then fish, so if he says it is ok, then :good:

So for example I did:

LR cycled
Cuc
Pair of clowns
think it was the Sarcophyton that I got first (dear me, I cant remember)
then think it was the flame Hawk next
then some more coral
Dracula Goby came next
and on and on ......................

but I asked questions and got answers all the time :good:

ok. Thanks guys. I think i'm going to do a coral first, then a pistol shrimp & goby, then more corals, then either a blue hippo tang or a scott's fairy wrasse, idk what do you think fish-wise?
