Hi all

Current stocking levels are as above for a 24 x 12 x 15 tank - can I add anything else in the future to balance up the numbers a little? Ie another couple of female rainbows or rasboras? I had wanted to add a bottom feeder but think maybe I will be overloading now if I do?

The tank has been cycled and water paramaters are steady at Temp 77 Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 5 Ph 7

Thanks :)

well your test results are good, keep up the water changes.

i notice your ideal PH for keeping certain types of fish. if you ever wanted to keep discus you have the ideal water and s such are very lucky. why not research rams. (blue, or bolivian are easy to get hold of) i forget the latin name but it could be "microphagus ramezeri" or similar

Hi,

Remembering that the tank is only 15 uk 18 us gallons, discus and rams are out of the question unless you plan to upgrade. You may get away with adding a couple more harlequins so long as you keep up with weekly water changes. I would choose the harlequins over adding more rainbows as rainbows grow slightly bigger and are a lot more active.

Thanks for the reply Emma - no upgrading is out of the question, for now - have 3 tanks and need to keep hubby half happy - he didn't really want any  I did try to persuade him to let me set up a 4ft but to no avail.

To be honest I have never had an interest in discus or large fish - I'll have to post you my water instead FBF

I have a wonderful routine going now for water changes. Could I add a bottom feeder of any sortor possibly another shrimp or 2? LFS suggested one of the smaller plecs - but for some reason I had a big reservation about this - and didn't know what to believe  so I put all plans on hold waiting for some feedback first.

I have also now found out my 2 rainbows are both male - they get on ok - is this likely to be a problem????

all comments appreciated - good and bad - after all, only way I will learn - thank you!

shrimp don't count to your overall tank stock... so you could add a Bristlenose Plec or some Pygmy Cory as 'bottom feeders'...

Bogwood

so if I went with a bristlenose plec - I take it I am right in assuming that would definately be instead of adding another couple of rasbora or rainbow?

Think that might be the way forward - will also probably stop the middle area becoming too busy.

Thanks for all your help

Had an original stocking plan - but obviously no good if LFS doesn't sell the fish
