Angels Pairing Up

I have 4 juvenile golden pearlscale angels and my dream has come true; my 2 favourites are making all the right moves to be pairing up!

I know that these fish like to spawn on vertical objects and I wondered what you guys are using as such? I know that the heater is not a very good idea....

Add some broad leaved plants Biuli for them to spawn on if you want to keep a more of a natural look. If not then you can buy special spawning cones that are usually made from terracotta. Anything upright really, slate, stone etc all make ideal spawning sites.

Try a cold water change also to spur them on.

Thank you Minnnt! I have an anubia angustifolia and large leaved java fern, would that do? Do you also suggest I separate them? I have them currently in a 30 gallon community tank.

My pair have spawned on a vertical piece of wood and the filter inlet pipe.....anything nice and flat and horizontal should do!

I would have the pair in their own tank. When i had a pair they were like the devil. I wouldn't have dared keep anything with them.

ZZ's are in a community tank though and they were fine. lol. Pot luck as to what you get i guess. Maybe just observe them, but if you want the fry to survive then seperate them.

Swords would be a better option, but they may still choose the heater or as mentioned, the filter pipe. lol. If you had them in their own tank then you could just have it solely for breeding with a couple of the cones i mentioned.
