angelicus?

wrong forum, as they are a loach they come under cyripinids.
anyway on to the question

reaches 6" in length, they are gregarious and like to be in groups of 4 or more
temp range of 24 to 28c. Intollerant to salt.
as much fun as a clown loach, often "playing" dead

what else do you want to know?

oh really? huh well elarn something new every day, well im new. any way, what are thier feeding habits and such as well?

So how do you explain Synodontis angelicus then Wolf? It certainly not a loach and grows far larger than 6 inches ;)

Synodontis angelicus or the Angel catfish as they are sometimes commonly known is a large growing African catfish that can exceed lengths of 20 inches in the wild, though captive specimins rarely grow larger than a foot in aquariums. They are omnivorous and feed on a wide variety of foods including algea which they will rasp from rocks and wood in the tank, catfish pellets, frozen foods and flake, larger specimins will also eat smaller fish so tankmates should be above 3 inches in length. Like almost all Synodontis species they are strictly nocturnal and will hide away during daylight hours.

The other "angelicus catfish" is a incorrect synom of Pimelodus pictus for which there is a profile in the fish index.

didn't know it existed :p

so to the postee
are we talking loach or catfish?

I have the catfish version and he is wonderful. He likes to swim about and rummage the tank because he is a scavenger. He really likes coming out at night but can be seem swimming at high speed through my tank. He really likes the company of my albino's as they rummage together. He does like to lie on the bottom of the tank lying in wait... He would be a good addition to your tank as long as you dont have smaller fish. I learnt the hard way and lost two little neons. However he is gorgeous. when i feed them in the morning he does not really surface for the flakes but waits for it to fall to the bottom. He really likes catfish pellets.

oh by the way he does grow to about 5-6inches. I have a 15 gallon tank and he does enjoy it in there. but anything smaller I would say no to. you should have seen the one I rescued him from, it was tiny. anyway if you do get him, enjoy. he may be shy for the first few days but after that he is fun to watch.

:p Just to muddy the water I had an angelicus plec (L004) - they are luvly. :p

Someones gonna shoot me down in flames now for using a wrong name.........

If this is a Pim. Pictus then this is probably far from the truth. Pictus should be in groups of at least 3 and a minimum tank size is probably 30Gallons. They need plenty of swimming space and a place to call their own terratory.

I would upgrade your tank or come to terms with the fact that you shouldn't keep a pim. pictus in such a small tank!

Ben

i wouldn't say its far from the truth if you aren't actually here when u dont know my fishes actvity. he does like it, he is only small at the moment and we will upgrade as soon as he gets bigger but until then dont hint that I am lying or speaking "far from the truth" . I put out my honest opinion for this post about pim catfish and I talked truthfully about my pim.
