Hey guys!
Just wondering whether my angelfish has fin rot?
I bought her/him yesterday and today realized that she/he did not look overly healthy. I have attached some photos! I only have some white spot remedy at home currently, would this be worth using?

Thanks!!

The fish hasn't got a tail. Can you take the fish back and swap it for another one?

Depending on what the ingredients are in the whitespot remedy will determine if you could use it.

If you can't return the fish then monitor it for a couple of days. If the tail gets worse then add some medication, otherwise leave it. Do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate every day and it will dilute nutrients and disease organisms in the water and this will help the fish heal.

The fish did have a tail. You can't really see it all to well in the photo but it has almost fallen off, just dangling off the bottom. The white spot remedy has an active ingredient of 37mg/100ml formaldehyde.

Even though I might be able to take it back, I feel as though the shop wouldn't care less and it wouldn't get any care at all. So I would rather try and help it here. I will do those water changes as you said. Thank you very much Colin :)

In this picture, you can see a little more clearly the part of the tail that has almost fallen off.

Just take it back to the shop and get a healthy one. That fish has fungus on what's left of its tail and is probably going die. Don't waste your money or time on it. Just return it asap and get a replacement. The shop shouldn't have sold the fish to anyone in that condition.
